Jobber publishes the price of its Receptionist add-on in its help center rather than on the main pricing page, which is why most "Jobber AI receptionist pricing" articles get it second-hand. Read on 2026-10-03 from help.getjobber.com: Receptionist is $29 a month, which includes 30 conversations, and Jobber charges $0.79 for each conversation past 30 in a billing cycle. It is included with unlimited usage on Jobber's Plus plan. The add-on sits on top of a Jobber subscription, so the real monthly figure is the add-on plus the plan.
Two things the $29 figure hides until you read the article: the meter is the conversation, not the call, and a conversation is a call or a text. Conversations Jobber tags as "no conversation" or "spam" do not count, which is fair, but a text thread with a customer counts the same as a phone call.
If you want to hear what a per-call plan with a published overage rate sounds like on a real trade intake, call the OnCrew demo line at (818) 578-4783, or start the 14-day free trial with no credit card. The side-by-side with OnCrew is further down; the Jobber facts come first.

What counts as a conversation
Jobber's article is specific: Receptionist provides "24/7 customer service over call or text", and conversations tagged "no conversation" or "spam" do not count toward the total. Everything else does, so a customer who texts to ask about an estimate and then calls back is two conversations. For a shop that gets more texts than calls, the 30 included conversations go faster than the call count suggests.
The arithmetic, counting one conversation per contact and leaving the Jobber plan itself out:
- 30 conversations: $29.
- 100 conversations: $29 plus 70 at $0.79, or $84.30.
- 400 conversations: $29 plus 370 at $0.79, or $321.30.
- 1,000 conversations: $29 plus 970 at $0.79, or $795.30, at which point the Plus plan at $499 with unlimited usage is the cheaper way to run it.
What the $29 does not include
- The Jobber plan. Receptionist is an add-on, and the add-on is for "select plans". A shop that is not on Jobber starts at $49 a month for the plan before the $29.
- Conversations past 30. The $0.79 rate is printed, which is better than a quote, but a busy month is billed by the conversation.
- The Plus price. Unlimited Receptionist comes with Plus at $499 a month billed month to month ($439 on a one-year commitment, $399 a month billed annually), so "unlimited" costs the difference between your plan and Plus.
- A separate trial. Jobber's 14-day trial runs on its Grow plan with no credit card required; the Receptionist article names no separate trial for the add-on.
What you get for it
Jobber's feature page and help article, read 2026-10-03, describe Receptionist this way: it answers calls and texts 24/7, can set up a visit in your Jobber calendar, create a work request for you to review, or take a message, and it is "ready on day one" using the company profile, services, request forms and booking settings already in your Jobber account. You set keywords such as "emergency", "no heat" or "burst pipe", and when a caller uses one Receptionist either transfers the call straight through to your escalation contact's phone number or sends that contact a text alert with a transcript snippet. If it meets something it does not know, it can direct the caller to contact you directly.
For a shop that already runs its whole office inside Jobber, that is the point: nothing to connect, and the request lands where the office already works.
How OnCrew compares
OnCrew is a contractor AI receptionist that needs no field-software subscription: Starter is $49 a month for 100 calls, Pro is $149 for 400, Multi-Truck is $349 for 1,000, and every plan bills $0.99 per call past the limit. A call counts when the AI talks with a caller; hang-ups on the greeting do not. The trial is 14 days with no card, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.
| Monthly contacts | Jobber Receptionist add-on (plus the Jobber plan) | OnCrew |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | $29 | $49 (Starter) |
| 100 | $84.30 | $49 (Starter) |
| 400 | $321.30 | $149 (Pro) |
| 1,000 | $795.30, or Plus at $499 | $349 (Multi-Truck) |
Our arithmetic from Jobber's printed rates, counting one conversation per call; your mix of calls and texts changes the Jobber column.
Where the call lands is the other difference. Jobber's Receptionist writes into Jobber. OnCrew texts and emails your team the call record (summary, callback number, service address, job type, urgency and a link to the call in your dashboard, plus the recording and transcript when you switch them on); Housecall Pro connects from the Integrations page of your OnCrew dashboard on its MAX plan, and Jobber, ServiceTitan and other tools get every real call through the webhook export we set up with you. If a caller insists on a person, OnCrew transfers live to the people you list when you switch live transfer on, and if nobody picks up within about 25 seconds, or the ring time you choose, Sarah comes back on the line and takes a message.
Who should pick which
Pick Jobber Receptionist if you already run Jobber, you want calls and texts handled inside it with no second tool, and your missed-contact volume is small: at 30 conversations a month it is $29, less than any OnCrew plan. It is also the obvious choice on Jobber's Plus plan, where it is included with unlimited usage.
Pick OnCrew if you are not on Jobber, you run more than a few dozen calls a month, or you want to hear the trade intake on a demo line before you forward your number. The full comparison, with every Jobber figure cited to the page it came from, is at OnCrew vs Jobber Receptionist.

- Plumber Answering Service: after-hours burst pipe and sewage backup intake for plumbers, alerts to the on-call plumber.
- Electrician Answering Service: after-hours outage, panel and sparking-outlet intake for electricians, alerts to the on-call electrician.
